MARILYN POP-WOW! is my second painting in the new and exciting POP-WOW! series with John Lennon being the first. They were both hand-painted acrylics and vector based, but the two paintings do differ in that Lennon contained curved lines whereas Marilyn does not. Even Marilyn's famous mole is a square.
24" x 36", acrylic on wood panel, edges painted black.
For Marilyn's portrait, I chose a very bright pallet in order to keep with the POP theme and kick it up a few notches. I also wanted a very smooth surface to paint the acrylics on, so I chose a wood panel which worked like magic. In order to finish off her dress I first painted it black then gave it one thin coat of an iridescent blue to keep things interesting and very unique. The entire drawing and painting took 128 hours to complete.
